Olena is an Associate Professor at the Department of Genetics and Plant Resources at Zaporizhzhia National University. She teaches and works with the following educational programs: Education, Biology, Natural Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, and Food. He has diverse research interests, including the service sector (tourism and recreation) and foreign language learning (he teaches professional English to students). He is interested in genetics, botany, ecology, natural sciences, psychogenetics (behavioral genetics), astrobiology, etc.
Plant anatomy and morphology, plant resilience, genetics, landscape design, forestry, plant interactions and interactions, breeding, biodiversity conservation (including water resources), popularization of science, sustainable development (especially urban), pedagogical research.
Since 2004, she has been working at Zaporizhzhia National University at her main place of work (currently holds the position of Associate Professor of the Department of Genetics and Plant Resources).
In addition, she is a scientific expert of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance of Ukraine, a member of the Ukrainian Society of Plant Physiologists, the Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology, the Ukrainian Society of Geneticists and Breeders, the Hong Kong Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering Society (HKCBEES), the American Society of Plant Biologists, the Botanical Society of America, the Marine Biological Association of the UK, the British Ecological Society, the British Ecological Society. She also participates in the public organization Flora of Ukraine.
Since 2025, she has been a reviewer of foreign scientific journals (total number of reviews - 21), a reviewer in the sections of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Expert Council of the Ministry of Education and Science for the evaluation of research projects, an expert of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, a member of the Review College of the British Ecological Society, and the Head of the Zaporizhzhia Branch of the Ukrainian Botanical Society.
