Areas of research: sociology of religion, theory of religious markets, social trust, network analysis in sociology, social stratification and mobility.
Tymofiy is the rector of the Kyiv School of Economics. He is a sociologist who researches topics ranging from religion to social inequalities. He coordinates European comparative surveys in Ukraine (European Social Survey, European Values Survey).
From 2017 to 2018, Tymofii was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University Carlos III, Department of Social Sciences. Since 2018, he has been an associate professor at the Kyiv School of Economics. In 2018, he was also a visiting scholar at Stanford University.
From 2019 to 2020, Tymofiy worked as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at New York University. Since 2022, he has been a national coordinator and a guest researcher at the European Social Survey (ESS). Since the same year, Tymofiy has been the Kyiv School of Economics rector.
In addition, Tymofiy was a member of PONARS in 2019. He was also a board member of CEDOS, an editor at VoxUkraine, an Advisory Board Member at Gradus Research, and an Executive Team Member at SITADHub.
He is also a co-founder of the Urban Space 500 public restaurant in Kyiv, 80% of the profits from which will be transferred to support urban initiatives; winner of the N. Panina Award (2018) for the paper "When church competition matters?" by the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine; and co-chair of the "Social inequality" network, European Social Science History Conference.
