Description of the field of scientific research:

Sergei’s research interests encompass the development of a broad range of biosensor systems for applications in medicine, environmental monitoring, biotechnology, the food industry, and related fields. His work focuses on electrochemical biosensors, multienzyme sensing systems, biomolecular electronics, and the use of functional nanomaterials for the development of advanced sensing platforms.

List of duties:

Sergei is Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and a Principal Researcher at the Department of Biomolecular Electronics. He coordinates research activities, develops biosensor technologies, and leads international projects in biosensing, nanomaterials, and biomolecular electronics. Sergei also serves as a Professor at the Department of Molecular Biotechnology and Bioinformatics of the Educational and Scientific Institute of High Technologies at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Since 1 September 2009 — Professor, Department of Molecular Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Educational and Scientific Institute of High Technologies, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

1 November 2011 – 1 June 2019 — Principal Researcher, Laboratory of Biomolecular Electronics, Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Since 1 June 2019 — Deputy Director for Research, Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Deputy Chair of the Academic Council of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and member of specialised dissertation councils at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics and the D. K. Zabolotny Institute of Microbiology and Virology.

Member of the Scientific Council of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.

Chair of the Scientific Council of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on Sensor Systems and Technologies; member of the Scientific Coordination Council of the Section of Chemical and Biological Sciences of the NAS of Ukraine and of the Biology, Biotechnology and Current Problems of Medical Sciences section of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Long-term reviewer for journals including Biosensors and Bioelectronics, Analytica Chimica Acta, Electroanalysis, Bioelectrochemistry, Sensors and Actuators B, and Talanta.

Member of the editorial boards of Sensor Electronics and Microsystem Technologies and Biotechnologica Acta.
