Role: Project manager
D.Sc., Senior Researcher
Olena heads the research project “Biocompatible Hybrid Hydrogels with Functional Inorganic Fillers to Enhance Plant Vegetation” within the framework of the US National Academy of Sciences Support Program for Ukrainian Scientists in cooperation with PAN. The project aims to develop hybrid materials to restore degraded soils and soils affected by military contamination.
Peculiarities of physical and chemical processes at the solid/liquid and solid/gas interfaces, namely the influence of the structure of high-surface oxides on the adsorption of low- and high-molecular-weight compounds, the formation of surface charge and double electric layers in aqueous medium, the dependence of the enthalpy of interaction of polar and non-polar substances on the type and concentration of surface-active centers of nanoxides. The research priorities also include:— Determining the relationship between physical and chemical processes at the interface and such properties of aqueous and non-aqueous dispersions as aggregation and sedimentation stability, rheology, particle size distribution, zeta potential, etc.— Studying the effect of synthesis and modification methods on the morphology and structure of individual and mixed nanoxides obtained by pyrogenic and nanocarrier deposition methods, and determining their impact on the general properties of dispersions.— Study of the influence of nanoxides on the structure and functional properties of their composites with natural (polysaccharides) and synthetic (N-isopropyl acrylamide) polymers.— Synthesis and study of the structural and functional properties of hydrogels crosslinked/filled with inorganic nanoparticles.— Development of hydride organic-inorganic materials for sorption and prolonged release of immobilized substances.
