Description of the field of scientific research:

Solid-state physics: electronic structure and electronic properties, mechanisms of superconductivity, electronic ordering, vortex matter, surface physics. Superconductors and other quantum materials: iron-based superconductors, amorphous superconductors, transition metal dichalcogenides, topological insulators. Methods and applications: ARPES, tunneling spectroscopy, magnetometry and transport, levitation methods, machine learning algorithms, superconducting electronics and quantum materials for quantum technologies.

List of duties:

Alexander is an experimental physicist in the field of electronic structure and properties of quantum phenomena, materials and applications, in particular, high-temperature superconductivity. He has extensive experience in conducting photoemission synchrotron experiments. He is also developing a model of research training in Ukraine based on the basic principle of "learning through live research", with particular attention to establishing mechanisms for sustainable international cooperation, using the example of the Kyiv Academic University.

Professional experience:

1994-1996, Oleksandr worked as a junior researcher at the G. V. Kurdyumov Institute for Metal Physics of the N.A.S. of Ukraine (IMF). From 1996 to 1997, he was a researcher at the IMF. From 1997 until 2001, he held the position of Senior Researcher at IMF, and from 2001 to 2012, Leading Researcher at IMF.

During 2000-2012, he worked as a researcher (part-time) at IFW Dresden, and from 2006 to 2017 he was a professor (part-time) at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Since 2012, he was also the Head of the Department of Superconductivity at the Institute of Physics and Mathematics, Kyiv. From 2012 to 2018, he was a professor (part-time) at the Physical and Technical Educational and Scientific Center of the NAS of Ukraine.

In 2017-2018, he acted as the Director of the Physical and Technical Educational and Scientific Center, and from 2018 to 2019, he was the Acting Director of the Kyiv Academic University (KAU). Since 2019, he has been the Director of KAU.

In addition, Oleksandr is a member of the editorial boards of the journal "Metallophysics and New Technologies", the collection of scientific papers "Nanosystems, Nanomaterials, Nanotechnologies", a member of the advisory board of the scientific journal "Low Temperature Physics", and regularly reviews articles for Phys. Rev. Lett, Phys. Rev. B, J. Appl. Phys., Nature journals, and others. For example, he is a reviewer of research projects submitted to various international competitions: European Commission (Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe), NSF (USA), SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (USA), F.R.S.-FNRS (Belgium).
