Description of the field of scientific research:

Yuriy studies marine fish parasites, aquatic parasite ecology, and the taxonomy of acanthocephalans and digenea. He is also interested in ichthyology, the theory of biological invasions, parasites of invasive fish, and the spread of invasive species.

Expert in aquatic parasites and biological invasions in aquatic ecosystems.

Professional experience:

From 2002 to 2004, Yuriy worked as a junior researcher at the Odesa Branch of the Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas of the NAS of Ukraine. From 2004 to 2008, he worked as a researcher at the Odesa Branch of the Institute of Southern Marine Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Subsequently, in 2008-2009, Yuriy completed a postdoctoral program at the Institute of Parasitology Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

From 2009 to 2014, he worked as a senior researcher at the Odesa Branch of the Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas of the NAS of Ukraine. From 2014 to 2018, he again completed his postdoctoral studies at the Institute of Vertebrate Biology, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

From 2017 to 2020, Yurii held the position of Senior Researcher at the Institute of Marine Biology of the NAS of Ukraine. Since 2020, he has been a leading researcher at the Institute of Marine Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Vertebrate Biology, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

The scientist has also written several dozen journal reviews. Here are some of them: Acta Parasitologica, Acta Zoologica Bulgarica, Annales of Parasitology, Aquatic Invasions, BioInvasions Records, Biological Invasions (Springer), Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, Comparative Parasitology, Diseases of Aquatic Organisms, Diversity (MDPI), and so on.
