Olena studies the physiology of lactic acid bacteria and their probiotic and industrial properties and promotes knowledge about microorganisms and the human microbiome.
Olena is a science popularizer, founder and author of the popular science information resource MICROB & ME.
From 2012 to 2014, Olena worked as a junior researcher at the Department of Physiology of Industrial Microorganisms of the Zabolotny Institute of Microbiology and Virology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Since 2014, she has been a research secretary at the same department for three years and a researcher for seven years. Moreover, from 2016 to 2017, Olena headed the Council of Young Researchers of the Zabolotny Institute of Microbiology and Virology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
From 2020 to 2021, Olena was a specialist in cooperation with scientific and medical institutions and organizations of the Service for Cooperation with State Authorities, the Public and Security.
In addition, during 2009-2017, Olena was a member of the Vinogradsky Society of Microbiologists of Ukraine (TMU) and the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS).
