Description of the field of scientific research:

Olga's research interests include the study of the physiological and biochemical mechanisms of formation and regulation of plant defense response of cereals at the action of biotic and abiotic stress factors; development of biochemical methods for control of cereal crops resistance to biotic and abiotic stress factors with the purpose of application in the plant breeding for selection of varieties with high productivity, stability and quality; research the biochemical aspects that determine the legumes seed quality to develop complex characteristics of estimation and selection of varieties of food and feed directions; development of biochemical methods of estimation of grain quality and commodity output of agricultural crops (wheat, barley, maize, legumes, sunflower); biochemical research of food quality and safety; study of biologically active compounds content, its antioxidant, protective, pharmacological activities from different medicinal plants for usage in food and pharmaceutical industry.

List of duties:

Olga's main activity is biochemical research of raw materials and food products for quality and safety, studying the biochemical composition of medicinal plants as raw materials for use in the pharmaceutical and food industries. She currently works as Head of the Laboratory of Plant Biochemistry at the Plant Breeding & Genetics Institute-National Center of Seed and Cultivar Investigation.

Professional experience:

Since 2019, Olga has been a member of the Sectoral Expert Council in Biology of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance.

2019-2020 — Olga was a participant in the project "Reducing the impact of pathogens on yield: developing diagnostics for early stages of plant diseases" (US Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global) in collaboration with the University of Washington, Institute of Biochemistry and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv).

From 2021 to the present, she has been a project manager under the Research Program "Biotechnology and Genetics in Plant Production" ("Genetic basis of qualitative and quantitative economically valuable traits, development of modern biotechnologies for the creation and evaluation of source material and improving the efficiency of methods for improving plant genotypes"), namely "Study of physiological and biochemical mechanisms of plant resistance and adaptation to biotic and abiotic stressors to identify biochemical markers of resistance, development of new methods to increase the resistance and productivity of agricultural plants as elements of modern agrobiotechnology" and "Physiological, biochemical and genetic criteria that determine the quality of grain of cereals and legumes for the selection of genotypes for food and feed."

Also, she is a member of the Ukrainian Biochemical Society and member of M.I. Vavilov Society of Geneticists and Breeders of Ukraine.
