Description of the field of scientific research:
Roman’s research interests encompass pathological and physiological biomineralization in the human body, as well as the development and biocompatibility assessment of innovative biomaterials for osteoplasty, regenerative medicine, and dentistry. His work also focuses on pathomorphological and immunohistochemical diagnostics of cancer, including the molecular tumour microenvironment, innovative antibacterial coatings and wound dressings, and the integration of digital pathology, telemedicine, and artificial intelligence into morphological diagnostics.
List of duties:
Roman is Head of the Department of Pathological Anatomy at the Medical Institute of Sumy State University and Director of the Ukrainian-Swedish research centre SUMEYA. He coordinates international Horizon Europe research projects, including ARGO and MxWound, focused on the development and testing of innovative biomaterials for dentistry and wound treatment. He also has practical experience in preserving and rebuilding research and educational infrastructure during wartime, including the development and adaptation of teaching laboratories and safe spaces in a Ukrainian border region.

2024 — Recipient of the Talents for Ukraine grant programme by Kyiv School of Economics.
