Description of the field of scientific research:

Volodymyr's research interests include optimization theory, stochastic programming, mathematical system analysis methods, financial and actuarial mathematics, mathematical economics, applied statistics, and machine learning theory.

List of duties:

Volodymyr is an expert in operations research, a Doctor of Science in Physics and Mathematics, a Professor of Applied Mathematics, and a leading researcher. He has published over 100 scientific papers on operations research and its applications and a monograph entitled Methods of Nonconvex Optimization.

Professional experience:

In 1974-1982, Volodymyr worked as a junior researcher, in 1987-1988 as a laboratory manager, and in 1983-1986 as a senior researcher at the Kyiv branch of the research institute Voskhod. From 1989 to the present day, he has held the position of first a senior researcher and then a leading researcher at the V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of NAS of Ukraine.

From 1991 to 1992, Volodymyr worked as an associate professor at the Kyiv branch of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and from 1992 to 1994, he was a collaborator in the projects "Optimization under Uncertainty" and "Risk Analysis and Insurance" at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis. From 1994 to 1996, he worked as a research associate in the Optimization under Uncertainty project, and from 1997 to 2002, he was a contract researcher in the Modeling, Risk, and Society project at the same institute.

In 2001, 2004, and 2005, Volodymyr visited the Center for World Food Resources at the Free University of Amsterdam. From 2010 to 2011, he was a visiting professor at the University of California, and from 2015 to the present, he has been a professor of applied mathematics at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute."

Furthermore, from 1995 to 2001, Volodymyr was a member of the International Committee on Stochastic Programming (COSP) at the International Society for Stochastic Programming. From 1995 to 2005, he was a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal "Theory of Optimal Decisions," from 2000 to 2002, he was a member of the expert council on the mathematics of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine. In 2007, he was also a member of the international scientific organizing committee of the 11th Conference on Stochastic Programming held in Vienna, and from 2007 to 2016, he was a member of the editorial board of the SIAM Journal on Optimization.

Currently, Volodymyr has been a member of the editorial board of the Stochastic Programming Series at Humboldt University in Berlin since 1999, a member of the editorial board of the SIAM Journal on Optimization since 2000, a reviewer for the European Journal of Operational Research since 2003, a member of the editorial board of the SIAM Journal on Optimization since 2007, and a professor of applied mathematics at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute."
