Andriy Novikov

Ph.D.

Description of the field of scientific research:

Andriy is a senior researcher at the Natural History Museum in Lviv. He specializes in research on plant biogeography, morphology, and systematics. Furthermore, he also has extensive experience in digitizing natural history collections, scientific publishing, and organizing scientific conferences. He is a GBIF mentor in Ukraine and curator of the LWS herbarium.

List of duties:

Distribution of endemic plants in the Carpathians. Vascular anatomy and morphology of angiosperms. Systematics and taxonomy of buttercups. Digitization of the herbarium collections. Parsing, management and processing of natural history collections.

Professional experience:

Since 2010, Andriy has been a leading engineer, junior researcher, researcher and senior researcher at the National Museum of Natural History at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. 2011-2018 - founder and executive editor of the scientific journal "Modern Phytomorphology", and from 2011 to 2012 - assistant professor at the Department of Botany, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

2013 - Senior Researcher at the Department of Botany, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. In 2016, he was a visiting professor at the Museum of Hunting and Nature.

From 2015 to the present, he has been a scientific curator of the LWS Herbarium, and since 2018 he has also been the executive editor of the scientific journal "Plant Introduction".

During 2019-2020, he worked as an assistant/associate professor at the Department of Botany at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

In addition, Andriy has been a member of the Ukrainian Botanical Society since 2010, a member of the Systematics Association (London) since 2011, a member of the Polish Botanical Society since 2014, and a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis Studia Naturae (Krakow) since 2016. This year he has been a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal Botany Letters (Paris).
