Olena's research interests encompass soil organic matter, soil structure under different land-use practices, the conservation and restoration of soil fertility, carbon sequestration in agroecosystems, and soil health. Her work also focuses on sustainable agricultural development and maintaining the productivity and resilience of soils under changing climatic conditions.
Olena is an Associate Professor at the Department of Soil Science and Soil Protection named after Professor M. K. Shykula at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. She combines teaching with research on sustainable agriculture, soil fertility, and soil health. She is also involved in national research projects and international initiatives, including Horizon Europe projects.

2008–2010 — Senior Lecturer, Department of Soil Science and Soil Protection, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine.
Since 2010 — Associate Professor, Department of Soil Science and Soil Protection named after Professor M. K. Shykula, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine.
Since 2015 — Executive Secretary of the journal Plant and Soil Science.
2017–2019 — Responsible Researcher in the project “Labile Organic Matter as a Basis for Chernozem Fertility and Agrocenosis Productivity”.
2022–2023 — Responsible Researcher in the project “Nitrogen-Carbon Balance as a Basis for Carbon Sequestration in Chernozems of the Forest-Steppe Zone of Ukraine”.
2023–2025 — Responsible Researcher in the project “Management of Biological Activity and Organic Matter to Increase the Productivity of Chernozems of the Forest-Steppe Zone of Ukraine under Climate Change”.
Since 2022 — Participant in the Horizon Europe ECOTWINS project, focused on strengthening research capacity and expertise in agroecological intensification of crop production.
