Description of the field of scientific research:

Oleksii's current research interests focus on identifying and analysing fake information and propaganda in Russian science and on examining how the aggressor state uses the academic environment as a tool for spreading disinformation and legitimising aggression against Ukraine. Before the full-scale invasion, his main research areas included financial markets, price forecasting, financial market behaviour, price and calendar anomalies, cryptocurrency markets, investment, and financial stability.

Oleksii is a Professor at the Department of International Economics at Sumy State University and Scientific Director of the Analytical Center for Research on Fakes and Propaganda in Russian Science. His current work focuses primarily on identifying and analysing fake and propagandistic narratives within the Russian academic system and developing approaches to counter the use of science as a propaganda tool. He also has extensive experience in teaching finance and economics, managing research projects, and analysing financial markets.

Professional experience:

2008–2016 — Associate Professor, Department of Accounting and Auditing, Ukrainian Academy of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine, Sumy.

2012 — Visiting Professor, Kufstein Tirol University of Applied Sciences, Austria; taught Trends in International Finance.

Since 2014 — Reviewer for international academic journals, including Research in International Business and Finance, International Review of Applied Economics, Investment Analysts Journal, Economic Modelling, Journal of Economic Studies, and Finance Research Letters.

May–August 2016 — Associate Professor, Department of Accounting and Auditing, Sumy State University.

Since September 2016 — Professor, Department of International Economics, Sumy State University.

2017–2020 — Project Leader of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine research project on modelling and forecasting financial market behaviour as a basis for ensuring national financial stability and security.

Since 2020 — Project Leader of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine research project on the fractal transformation model of the Ukrainian stock market and socially responsible investment for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

September–December 2022 — Visiting Professor, Leipzig University, Germany; taught Research Methods in Social Sciences.

Since September 2024 — Scientific Director, Analytical Center for Research on Fakes and Propaganda in Russian Science, Sumy State University.
