Description of the field of scientific research:
Serhii's research interests include water security, the treatment of water from natural sources for domestic and drinking purposes, as well as water iron removal and degasification.
His research also covers resource-efficient technologies for the sustainable use of water resources, integrated water resources management, wastewater treatment, and technological systems for the water supply and wastewater management of industrial enterprises.

Serhii Kunytskyi is a Leading Researcher at the Research Department of the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering.
He specialises in water supply and wastewater management. His work encompasses scientific research, research project evaluation, organisational activities, and the development of support mechanisms for early-career researchers.
Serhii Kunytskyi contributed to drafting the Regulations on the Heavenly Hundred Heroes Scholarship and the methodology for evaluating scholarship applicants. He was also a member of a working group that prepared proposals and recommendations for assessing applicants for scholarships awarded by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
He served on the organising committees of the first and second All-Ukrainian Forums of Councils of Young Scientists. He also contributed to developing a model programme for territorial and regional support of scientific and technological development.
He is an expert of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine involved in evaluating fundamental and applied research projects and research and development initiatives.
Professional experience:
From 1 November 2010 to 31 October 2013 — Postgraduate Researcher at the Department of Water Supply and Drilling Engineering, National University of Water and Environmental Engineering.
From 11 November 2013 to 5 May 2014 — Researcher at the university’s Research Department.
From 5 May 2014 to 21 February 2021 — Senior Researcher at the university’s Research Department.
From 2017 to 2021 — Member of the section “New Technologies for Environmentally Friendly Manufacturing and Construction, Environmental Protection, Extraction and Processing of Mineral Resources, Chemical Processes and Substances in Ecology, and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources” of the Expert Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Since 22 February 2021 — Leading Researcher at the Research Department of the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering.
Since 2020 — Expert responsible for conducting scientific and technical evaluations of research and development projects for the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.
Since 2020 — Expert involved in evaluating the effectiveness of higher education institutions in conducting scientific and technological activities within relevant research areas.
