Jaspilite — the gemstone of Ukraine

Sergiy's research interests include a gemological study of gems of Ukraine, peculiarities of pricing and determining the value of precious stones, geological and economic assessment of gemstone raw materials, in particular, associated reserves at existing mining enterprises and examination and diagnosis of precious stones.
Since 2015, Sergiy has been the director of the gemological research center of Dniprov Polytechnic National Technical University (on a non-profit basis). Since 2016, he has been working as the Head of the Department of General and Structural Geology.
He is a member of the Union of Geologists of Ukraine, co-author of four monographs on gems of Ukraine and actively participates in scientific and practical conferences, particularly as a member of the organizing committee of the international conference on extraction, processing and use of natural stones.
Sergiy is a co-author of a patent on a method of manufacturing products from striped jaspilite. He is also engaged in scientific work with young people: he prepares schoolchildren for the National Academy of Sciences competitions and students for the «Zavtra.ua» scholarship competition.
Sergiy participates in popular science events such as "Night of Science," "Geofest" and "Interpipe Techfest", in broadcasts on local TV channels.
He is engaged in conducting excursions in the Gemological Center for schoolchildren and everyone interested, and is a member of the editorial board of the popular science magazine "Precious and Decorative Stones".
