PolarRES studies the interactions between the atmosphere, oceans, and sea ice in the Arctic and Antarctic.

Kateryna researches wave processes, climate change, hydrodynamics, and math education.
Kateryna has a Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics in numerical modeling of hydrodynamic and oceanographic problems. She is interested in oceanography, nonlinear processes, climate change, and mathematical education.
Since 2009, Kateryna has been a senior researcher at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Since 2019, she has been the Head of the Laboratory of Mathematical Sciences at the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
2017-2020, Kateryna worked as a section leader at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 in Vienna.
In addition, in 2018, Kateryna worked as an editor of the special issue of the Extreme internal wave events journal Nonlinear Processes in Geophysics. In 2021, Kateryna worked as an editor of the special issue Nonlinear internal waves of the journal Nonlinear Processes in Geophysics (NPG)
During 2019-2022, Kateryna was the Communications Coordinator of the Natural Hazards Unit of the European Geosciences Union (EGU).
Kateryna has also been a reviewer for many professional international publications on oceanography.
