Description of the field of scientific research:

Oksana works at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. In 2022-2023, she conducted essential research on migration policy with Polish colleagues at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (MCSU) as part of the NAWA Urgency Grants Program's research project "Multi-level management of the humanitarian crisis caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine on the examples of activities in the Lubelskie Voivodeship (PL) and Volyn Oblast (UA). Her ongoing research interest is gender aspects of political processes. Also, communication processes between public authorities and civil society fall into the sphere of scientific interests. She cooperates as an expert consultant on gender issues with international organizations, such as NDI Ukraine, IFES Ukraine, and INTERNEWS Ukraine.

Professional experience:

From 1991 to 1993, she was a history teacher at secondary school No. 22 in Lutsk, from 1993 to 1996, she was an assistant at the Department of Ukrainian History at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, from 1996 to 2000, she was a graduate student at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, from 2000 to 2005, she was a senior lecturer at the Department of Political Science at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, from 2005 to 2016, she was an associate professor at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, from 2016 to 2019, she was a professor at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the Volyn National University.

In addition, from 2020 to 2024, she was an expert at the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance.

Scientific projects:

  • Multilevel governance of the humanitarian crisis caused by the Russian aggression on Ukraine on the examples of activities in the Lubelskie Voivodeship (PL) and the Volyn Oblast (UA)

    The project constitutes the response to challenges connected with gathering and processing knowledge about reacting in the situation of crisis, being a consequence of Russia attacking Ukraine.

  • Men as Allies

    The manual "Men as Allies" contains material structured according to a problem-based approach, i.e., it highlights the problems that hinder the development of gender equality and women's leadership in social and political life at the individual, collective and network levels. The manual also contains facts, examples from international and national practice, quotes from famous people, statistics, background information, a gender dictionary, and useful bibliographic sources. The main target group of the manual is men, but the implementation of gender equality concerns everyone, so this manual can be useful for those who understand or want to understand the importance of gender inequality, violence, discrimination and are ready to join as an ally and ally in building a democratic country.
