Institute of Mathematics NAS of Ukraine
The Institute of Mathematics NAS of Ukraine is the largest mathematical institution in Eastern Europe (150 scientists, 30 graduate students, and the Department of Mathematics of the Kyiv Academic University) located in a building dating back to 1848.
As a result of a missile attack on October 10, 2022, shock waves crippled nearly 100 windows. So far, only the glass has been replaced, but not the frames, because, given the architecture of the old building, a significant number of frames are individually designed. Replacement is an expensive operation.
In 2023, a significant expansion of small cracks in the facade was discovered, as well as damage to the rainwater drainage system. Fragments of the building's elements were examined by the State Enterprise "Research Institute of Construction Production". More than ten cracks require special attention and, possibly, significant repairs of the walls (facade) with tightening structural elements in the vicinity of these cracks.
In addition, the waterproofing of the basement significantly deteriorated after the missile strike. This requires separate research and appropriate significant repairs.
