Basic information:
Through academic research, scholarly discussion, and the dissemination of knowledge about women’s history, the Association seeks to strengthen interest in the gender dimensions of the past and to advance the theoretical and methodological quality of research and teaching in this field. The organisation encourages and supports the establishment of centres for women’s and gender history at academic and educational institutions, improves access to existing scholarship, and supports early-career researchers working in this area.

Over the course of its work, the Association has implemented a number of publishing projects, including:
- the collective monograph Women’s Stories of Leadership in Ukraine: Late 19th – Early 20th Century (Kyiv: FOP Stepurina, 2025);
- the collective monograph Women’s Dimensions of the Past: Perceptions, Experiences, Representations (Lviv: Center for Urban History, 2023);
- the collection of academic papers Women of Central and Eastern Europe in the Second World War: Gender-Specific Experiences in Times of Extreme Violence (Kyiv: Art-Knyha LLC, 2015);
- the book Ukrainian Women in the Crucible of Modernisation, edited by Oksana Kis (Kharkiv: KSD, 2017). In September 2017, the publication received the Publishers’ Forum Award as the best book in the History category.
The Association also organised the international conference Women’s Dimensions of the Past: Perceptions, Experiences, Representations, held in Lviv on 8–11 June 2021, as well as the online lecture series Gender Dimensions of the Spaces of Modernity, which included 10 lectures and discussions held from October 2020 to June 2021.
