Basic information:
UAPM focuses on disseminating up-to-date knowledge and building physicians’ practical skills in interpreting molecular testing results and selecting personalised therapies for cancer patients.
The Association is building an intellectual foundation for the systematic implementation of personalised medicine in Ukraine by bringing together specialists in pathology, oncology, molecular genetics, and clinical pharmacology. This approach is intended to improve the quality of clinical practice, increase survival rates, and enhance the quality of life of cancer patients.
The preventive precision of selecting the right therapy from the outset, made possible by a personalised approach, helps avoid the costs of ineffective treatment and repeated therapy courses. This is particularly important for a healthcare system operating with limited resources. Personalized oncology provides a systematic framework for reducing the risk of inappropriate prescribing of targeted therapies and immunotherapies. More accurate treatment selection based on the molecular and genetic characteristics of a tumour can therefore improve both clinical outcomes and the cost-effectiveness of healthcare.

The Association organises the Pathology Level-Up training series, as well as scientific and practical conferences such as Lung Talks, Breast Talks, Ovarian Talks, and other professional events.
Which collaboration would be the most interesting/priority?
UAPM’s priority areas for international and interinstitutional cooperation include:
1. Cooperation with leading international professional associations, including EACR, ESMO, and AMP, to harmonise molecular genetic diagnostics in Ukraine with European standards for cancer diagnosis and treatment.
2. Cooperation with higher education institutions to integrate the principles of personalised medicine into medical education, postgraduate training, and continuing professional development programmes.
3. Cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine to develop a regulatory framework for the use of genetics and genomics in scientific research and to establish quality requirements for molecular genetic testing used in diagnosis and in predicting response to treatment.
