The Society was established in 1967. The purpose of the Society is to preserve the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine.
The Society focuses its activities on the study, preservation and popularization of the cultural heritage of Ukraine. Its mission is to foster civic responsibility for the preservation of cultural heritage through the study, preservation, and popularization of Ukraine's monuments.

Development and formation of the library collection of the Thesaurus Scientific Library, a unique collection of specialized restoration, conservation, and monument protection literature on the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine and the world.
Identification, study, research, and certification of newly discovered cultural heritage monuments for submission to the Register of Monuments of Ukraine.
Measures to preserve the most vulnerable architectural monuments or their elements (stained glass windows, iconostases, sculptures, decor) in Lviv and Lviv region; evacuation and creation of appropriate conditions for the preservation of museum, archival, and library collections in the context of a full-scale war.
Dissemination of experience throughout Ukraine.
Restoration and scientific consultations on the restoration of ancient wooden churches of the 17th and 18th centuries in the villages of Kuhaiiv, Vovkiv, and Zhyrivka in the Lviv region.
