Serhii Vynohradskyi society of microbiologists of Ukraine

The Society's primary goal is to promote the development of microbiological and virological science, especially those branches related to the socio-economic development of Ukraine.

Basic information:

The Serhii Vynohradskyi Society of Microbiologists of Ukraine was formerly known as the Ukrainian Microbiological Society. It was founded on March 29, 1959, based on the Institute of Microbiology and Virology. It was named after D.K. Zabolotny, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine of the USSR, as a branch of the International Union of Microbiological Societies.

The Ukrainian Microbiological Society was reorganized, and on December 27, 2002, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registered the Ukrainian Society of Microbiologists (USM) as a voluntary scientific and public association of Ukrainian specialists working in the field of microbiology, virology, and related fields. At the Xth Congress of the Ukrainian Society of Microbiology (September 15-17, 2004, Odesa), it was decided to name the Society after S.M. Vinogradsky given the exceptional importance of the research in microbiology of this world-renowned scientist and his Ukrainian origin.

The Society has been a full member of the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) since 2009. The Society's primary goal is to promote the development of microbiological and virological science, especially those branches related to the socio-economic development of Ukraine, and to protect the common interests of the Society members.
