Ukrainian Scientific Society of Parasitologists

The main task of the Ukrainian Scientific Society of Parasitologists is to unite parasitologists on a professional basis to coordinate and develop topical issues of parasitology and disseminate new knowledge.

Basic information:

The Ukrainian Scientific Society was founded in 1945 at the First Scientific Conference of Parasitologists of the Ukrainian SSR (Kyiv, December 1945). Since then, it has been operating as a scientific society of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. It was registered as the Ukrainian Scientific Society of Parasitologists (USSP) on February 16, 1998.

The main task of the Ukrainian Scientific Society of Parasitologists is to unite parasitologists on a professional basis to coordinate and develop topical issues of parasitology and disseminate new knowledge.

The Society brings together scientists and practitioners from research institutions of the National Academy of Sciences, the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences, the Ministry of Health, Agriculture, universities, other higher education institutions, veterinary research stations, plant protection systems, etc.

The Ukrainian Scientific Society has the status of an all-Ukrainian organization, with 9 regional branches.

Regions of active representation or activity:

Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Poltava, Odesa, Cherkasy, Dnipro, Sumy, Rivne.

Main projects of the company:

The Ukrainian Scientific Society of Parasitologists holds professional scientific conferences of international level. Three recent conferences:

1. XV Conference of the Ukrainian Scientific Society of Parasitologists (Chernivtsi, October 15-18, 2013);

2. Jubilee readings dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Ukrainian Scientific Society of Parasitologists and the 110th anniversary of the birth of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine O. P. Markevych (Kyiv, November 5, 2015);

3. XVI Conference of the Ukrainian Scientific Society of Parasitologists (Lviv, September 18-21, 2017).

Which collaboration would be the most interesting/priority?

The Ukrainian Scientific Society of Parasitologists (USSP) is a member of the European Federation of Parasitologists and the World Federation of Parasitologists.

The society's priority areas of development are to promote the development of parasitological research in Ukraine and to strengthen international relations in the field of studying parasites of humans, domestic animals, and game animals. USSP has close ties with colleagues from Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Australia.

The USSP contributes to developing scientifically based measures to combat parasitic diseases, conducts expert evaluation of parasitological research, and develops recommendations for their implementation in medical and veterinary practice.

USSP participates in developing measures for conserving and restoring wildlife and environmental protection in Ukraine and other countries.
