Ukrainian Society of Fracture Mechanics

The organization brings together Ukrainian scientists, engineers, researchers and other citizens of Ukraine who study and investigate the processes of deformation and fracture of materials to create approaches aimed at preserving the integrity of structures.

Basic information:

The Ukrainian Society for Fracture Mechanics (USFM) has been operating since November 26, 1992.

On September 7, 1993, the Society was registered as a legal entity with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine:

● organizational and legal form of business: public organization

● type of economic activity: activities of professional public organizations

● non-profit organization. The Company's charter states (clause 1.5):

The Charter of the Society states (clause 1.5): “The organization brings together Ukrainian scientists, engineers, researchers and other citizens of Ukraine who study and investigate the processes of deformation and fracture of materials to create approaches aimed at preserving the integrity of structures.”

The society brings together scientists and engineers from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, higher education institutions and industrial enterprises, and maintains scientific contacts with other related scientific societies in Ukraine and international organizations, including the European Structural Integrity Society (ESIS) and the International Congress on Fracture (ICF), as well as the Ukrainian Association of Corrosion Scientists and the National Committee of Ukraine for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Ukraine.

Regions of active representation or activity:

Lviv, Kyiv, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn, Poltava, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Cherkasy regions.

Main projects of the company:

1. Organization and holding of scientific conferences, for example:

● 6th International Conference "Fracture Mechanics of Materials and Structural Integrity", June 3-6, 2019, Lviv, Ukraine. Within the framework of the conference, a meeting of the Special Session 10 of the ESIS (European Structural Integrity Society) Technical Committee was organized;

● VII International Scientific and Technical Conference "Damage of Materials during Operation, Methods of its Diagnostics and Forecasting", October 18-20, 2023, Ternopil. Within the framework of the conference, a meeting of the special session 10 of the ESIS Technical Committee was organized.

2. Preparation for printing (layout, conversion and full technical preparation of the publication for printing) of the materials of the conferences.

3. Preparation of custom-made scientific and analytical materials for enterprises and institutions (for example, for the State Enterprise Engineering Center “Techno-Resource” and the State Enterprise Engineering Center "Lvivantikor", etc.).

The main donors of the society:

The Society exists at the expense of membership fees. Grant support for the organization and holding of international conferences (for example, a grant from the Lviv City Council for the organization and holding of the 6th International Conference "Mechanics of Fracture of Materials and Integrity of Structures", Lviv, 2019).
