The educational series "Scientific Societies" has been published on the Diya.Education platform, which explains how researchers can unite into professional communities and systematically develop science. It will help scientists understand how to create their own scientific society or strengthen the work of an existing community.

The series tells how to form a mission and strategy of a scientific society, assemble a team, establish work processes, and find resources for activities. Special attention is paid to how scientific communities can develop professionally, effectively represent their interests, and integrate into the global scientific community.

The series will be useful for scientists who plan to create their own scientific society, are already members of scientific societies, or seek to develop cooperation within their scientific discipline.

"When people are united by common values, ideas, and aspirations, communities arise. They become the drivers of change in various areas, from culture to politics. In science, such a role is played by scientific societies. This series is a practical guide for those who want to create a community that not only exists, but also has a real impact,” — Yuriy Khalavka, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, co-founder of UAScience.reload and Science at Risk, member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

The series consists of eight episodes and covers the entire path — from understanding the nature of scientific societies to choosing a legal form, developing a strategy and budget, building a team and setting up internal processes. Separate episodes are devoted to international cooperation: how to overcome language and institutional barriers, find grants and build teams with foreign colleagues.

“Science has no borders. And modern science is not created alone. A scientific society is not only a community for exchanging ideas, but also a starting point for international cooperation. By uniting, researchers can amplify their voices and even become science diplomats,” — from the materials of the educational series “Scientific Societies.”
