Description of the field of scientific research:

Oksana is a linguist and lecturer at the University of Vienna. For over 30 years, she has been researching pejorative vocabulary, verbal aggression, and verbal violence (lexical-semantic, pragmalinguistic, psycho- and sociolinguistic aspects).

List of duties:

Verbal aggression and verbal violence: points of contact and differences; aggressive speech acts; functions of peyoratives; intercultural peculiarities of peyoratives; peculiarities of translation of peyorative vocabulary; language variations: Viennese and Lviv dialects, youth languages; verbal aggression and verbal violence among children and youth; preventive measures at school to overcome verbal violence; language and war; verbal aggression and war.

Professional experience:

From 1993 to 1996, she worked at the Western Department of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, as a researcher at the Austrian Institute for East and Southeast Europe. From 1993 to 2021, she worked at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv at the Department of Foreign Languages, Faculty of International Relations (from 1993 to 2001 as an assistant, and from 2001 as an associate professor). Since 2012, she has also worked at the University of Vienna (Institute of Germanic Studies, Institute of Teacher Training).
