Description of the field of scientific research:

Victoria is a researcher in the field of biotechnology and microbiology. Her scientific interests include the use of fungi and yeast as sources of biologically valuable compounds, the development of biotechnological approaches for the food and pharmaceutical industries, and the application of microorganisms for the restoration of degraded ecosystems and for addressing environmental challenges caused by anthropogenic impact.

List of duties:

Victoria is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology of the National University of Food Technologies (Kyiv, Ukraine). Her research interests include the development of biotechnologies based on microorganisms for ecosystem restoration and conservation, the production of biologically active compounds, and the enrichment of yeast with iron to improve food quality and address health-related challenges. She pays particular attention to issues of sustainable development, especially biotechnological approaches to producing high-quality food products and introducing innovative methods into industry. Victoria actively involves students in research activities, integrating teaching with scientific inquiry, has experience participating in research projects, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at scientific conferences, and considers the dissemination of scientific knowledge and interdisciplinary collaboration essential for addressing global challenges.

Professional experience:

From 2000 to 2007, Victoria worked as an assistant at the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology of the National University of Food Technologies. Since 2007, she has held the position of Associate Professor at the same department, and since 2017 she has also served as Deputy Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology. Since 2018, Victoria has been the guarantor of the educational and professional Master’s program in Biotechnology and Bioengineering at the National University of Food Technologies.

From 2014 to 2019, she was a member of the Organizing Committee of the Second Round of the All-Ukrainian Biotechnology Olympiad. Since 2017, she has been serving as a reviewer (on a voluntary basis) for the journal Scientific Works of NUFT. In 2018–2020, she was a member of the Subject and Methodological Committee of the All-Ukrainian NUFT Biology Olympiad. Since 2020, she has been a member of the Organizing Committee and the Field-Specific Competition Committee of the Second Round of the All-Ukrainian Student Research Paper Competition in Biotechnology and Bioengineering. In 2022–2024, Victoria acted as a reviewer for ad hoc specialized academic councils for PhD dissertation defenses in the field of chemical and bioengineering, and in 2024 she served as an opponent of an ad hoc specialized academic council for a PhD dissertation defense in biology. She is also a member of the S. M. Winogradsky Society of Microbiologists of Ukraine.
